Microsoft has just released its security essentials software several hours ago. No longer a Beta version, you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/Security_essentials/?mkt=en-us.

 

If you are not that confident in using this English software, since security software and anti-virus is quite virtual for your laptop or PC, you may try the Chinese version, its a Beta but more beautiful which I will mension later. The link is here:

 

 

As we all know, Microsoft is famous for its huge and resource-consuming softwares, such as windows series and office. The new software is also with a clear Microsoft characteristics, as I may say so, it will slow down your computer if it's not competent enough. One of my friend says his computer is largely slowed down because of it. He has a 256+512MB of RAM, just give you a reference.

 

As far as I can see, the software is good to use. I am using Avira Anti-Virus as well as the Microsoft one. Under a Vista Home Basic Windows, it takes about half of my 2GB RAM in total, I mean the system itself and the software in memory when start up. The speed is qiute good, I haven't found my computer been slowed. But the Beta version is much more beautiful than the one released in the icon part. It work smoothly, together with the Avira, they always give me the suggestion of a virus or suspected program.

 

Well, the most important thing is, the Microsoft Security Essentials is free, if your Windows is not a pirate copy.
